GREENBELT FESTIVAL – 27th to 30th August 2026

Please see notice from Greenbelt offering discounted tickets.

It’s that time of year again.

As usual, we are pleased to be able to offer significantly discounted weekend tickets to local parish residents (Geddington, Warkton, Weekley, and Grafton Underwood parishes) for just £60 – that’s just 25% of what a standard adult ticket costs this year!

If your parishioners are interested in purchasing one of these local discounted weekend tickets for the 2026 festival (valid for Friday, August 28th, Saturday, August 29th, and Sunday, August 30th) for just £60, they need to fill out this quick form (it takes just two minutes) with proof of address.

Once we’ve checked proof of address, we will then provide applicants with a unique, one-time code to use when booking their discounted ticket via our online Box Office.

We would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word about this offer to all your parishioners. We will also promote this through local social media groups to ensure as much awareness as possible.

We have 200 of these discounted tickets available and they will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

This will be our last summer at Boughton House. Thank you for making us feel so welcome during our time here.

Cheers for now, Paul Northup, Creative Director, Greenbelt Festival

The UK’s PSTN (landline) network switch-off is finalized for 31 January 2027. Are you ready?

Digital Landline Switchover – Information for Weekley Residents

The UK’s traditional analogue phone network is being switched off and replaced with digital phone services by 31 January 2027.

Most residents do not need to take immediate action. Your phone provider will contact you at least four weeks before your line is switched to a digital service.

What Residents Should Check

Please identify any devices connected to your landline, including:

  • Medical alarms and telecare pendants
  • Burglar alarms and CCTV systems
  • Fax machines and intercom systems

If you use any of these services, contact the equipment provider or manufacturer to confirm they are compatible with digital phone lines.

Power Cuts and Emergency Calls

Digital landlines rely on mains electricity and may not work during a power cut unless a backup battery is provided. This is especially important for residents who:

  • rely on a landline in an emergency,
  • have poor mobile signal, or
  • use telecare equipment.

Phone providers must offer additional support for vulnerable customers where required.

Support for Vulnerable Residents

Residents who are elderly, vulnerable, or use medical alert systems should ensure they are registered with their provider’s Priority Services Register. Providers can offer additional help and backup solutions during the switchover.

Local Information for Weekley

Residents in Weekley are included in the national migration programme to digital landlines. Residents with private alarm or monitoring systems are encouraged to contact their supplier now to confirm compatibility before the national switch-off deadline.

Beware of Scams

Please be cautious of unexpected calls requesting payment or personal details regarding the switchover. Genuine providers normally contact customers by letter and do not request upfront payment for standard migration.

Heating Oil Support – Information for Residents (Crisis & Resilience Fund)

Please see below for an important update regarding Heating Oil Support available to residents across North Northamptonshire.

As part of the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF), North Northamptonshire Council has received funding to support households affected by rising heating oil costs, particularly in rural and off-grid communities.

Emergency support is available for North Northamptonshire residents who:

  • Use heating oil as their main or only heating source
  • Are not connected to mains gas
  • Are at risk of running out of heating oil
  • Cannot afford the minimum cost of an oil delivery

Please note: This scheme is not intended for everyday or planned purchases. It is for emergency situations only, where low oil levels and the cost of a delivery would put a household’s health, safety, or basic living conditions at risk.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, residents must:

  • Live in North Northamptonshire
  • Use heating oil as their main source of heating and hot water
  • Not be connected to the mains gas network
  • Have an oil tank level at 30% or less
  • Be unable to afford the minimum delivery (typically 300–500 litres)
  • Have household savings below:
    • £1,500 (most households), or
    • £6,000 (if aged 66 or over)

What support is available

  • Eligible applicants will receive a £150 prepaid card towards heating oil costs
  • The card is issued via the HUGGG voucher platform
  • Payment must be made by telephone, allowing residents to combine the voucher with their own payment

How to apply

Residents will need to provide:

  • National Insurance number
  • Proof they heat their home primarily by oil
  • 2 months of bank statements (dated within the last 3 months)
  • Details of any savings, benefits, or other income

They must also provide proof of current oil level, such as:

  • Latest heating oil invoice
  • Photo of oil tank gauge
  • Screenshot from a monitoring app
  • Written confirmation from a supplier or engineer

Applications can take around 30 minutes to complete and must be submitted online.

Apply here

Residents who need help completing an application are encouraged to visit their local library or contact the Council. Applications can also be completed on behalf of someone else (e.g. via lasting power of attorney).

Timescales

  • Applications are open until funding is exhausted
  • Applications are processed in order received
  • Decisions are typically made within 1 month
  • If additional information is requested, it must be provided within 7 days
  • Decisions are final and cannot be appealed

North Northants Council – Food Waste Services

We aim to commence a weekly food waste recycling collection to all properties in the former Wellingborough and Kettering Borough Council areas from September 2026. This service is already in place in the former East Northants and Corby areas, having been introduced before the unitary reorganisation. There are no changes to the frequency of collections for current recycling and general waste collections, which will continue on a fortnightly cycle.

With these food waste collections in place, the waste collection services offered across North Northamptonshire will be harmonised, so all residents receive the same level of service.

Grant funding for the rollout of the service has been provided by central Government as part of their Simpler Recycling initiative to promote recycling. The initial costs for containers and vehicles have been met by Government funding for the introduction of this service.

Information to residents will be provided through leaflets, social media and website updates explaining how to use the service. We have a dedicated webpage for further information, please see www.northnorthants.gov.uk/foodwastestarting. If you have any questions regarding this new service, please email waste@northnorthants.gov.uk.

North Northamptonshire Community Safety Plan

The North Northamptonshire Community Safety Partnership (CSP) 2026-29 plan aims to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) through five key priorities: preventing serious violence/knife crime, protecting from domestic/sexual abuse, supporting women and girls, improving community cohesion, and making neighbourhoods safer. It focuses on partnership working with police and emergency services to ensure residents feel safer. Please click here for plan.

Extra storage space marks new chapter for Northamptonshire Archives

Drawings that shaped Northampton’s streets and records marking life’s most solemn moments are being carefully rehoused in new storage space at Northamptonshire Archives.

Managed by West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) in partnership with North Northamptonshire Council, the Archives house an incredible eight miles of shelving, preserving records that chart the county’s story from the 12th century to the present day.

The new mobile racking has added an extra half a mile of shelving – space for around 8,000 of the service’s standard boxes.

Among the collections destined for the new space are material from Northampton Borough Architects, the county’s parish councils, and HM Coroner’s Service – with enough shelf space left over to accommodate new collections for more than a decade to come.

Councillor James Petter, Deputy Leader of West Northamptonshire Council and Cabinet Member for Local Economy, Culture and Leisure, said: “This is a vital investment in the county’s memory, ensuring that Northamptonshire’s rich and varied story has room to breathe.

“The expansion safeguards everything from industrial heritage and civic planning to coronial records, preserving the paper trail of everyday life alongside the moments that shaped the county’s identity.

“Secure storage allows records to be preserved in stable conditions and made available to future generations, from family historians tracing their roots, to students uncovering hidden stories, or residents simply curious about the past beneath their feet.”

Councillor Gregory Wilcox, North Northamptonshire Council’s Executive Member for Communities said: “These additional storage facilities are essential to protecting Northamptonshire’s shared heritage and ensuring important records remain safe, accessible and well cared for. Our partnership work demonstrates the value we place on preserving local history for our communities, now and for generations to come.”

Delivered on time and within budget, the project was completed by WNC’s Construction Team in partnership with NDC Consultancy, Bruynzeel and JPP UK. It also fulfils a key objective agreed with The National Archives when Northamptonshire Archives was awarded Archives Accreditation in 2024.

Based at Wootton Hall Park, the Archives welcomes visitors Tuesday to Thursday, from 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm, as well as on the first Saturday of each month from 9am to 1pm.

Visitors are welcome to drop in, but anyone with questions or who would like to pre-book their visit can do so by emailing archivist@westnorthants.gov.uk

UK Pollinator Monitoring Scheme

Residents are encouraged to take part in helping to gather evidence on changes in insect populations. With reports of dramatic losses of insects occurring across the globe, and concern about what this means for wider biodiversity and ecosystem health, there has never been a more important time to document evidence of change in populations of pollinating insects.
